A few more things you should know

1.

I prefer quality over quantity

Quality over quantity is something I have stood by since the day I started my business. With Alicia Marie Photography, the goal is to focus less on handing the client dozens of images that won’t get displayed but rather value and focus on images that mean the most to you. I want you to enjoy your timeless investment for decades to come.

my work

my inspiration

I grew up loving the camera and having photos taken. The excitement of receiving brand-new images to add to my albums was the greatest feeling. As a young child, I would spend hours flipping through old Polaroid images of my grandparents and extended family. I recall hundreds of images being spread out on the dining room table and reading the perfectly captioned cursive notes behind each one. I remember the smell of the old albums as I peeled off the plastic revealing the images. This is one of the reasons why I am so passionate about printing your photos to the highest archival quality and not settling for drugstore or big-box store printing. I want all my friends and clients to have that heartwarming feeling when they hold their images for the first time. As we move into this digital era, there is one thing that will never change for me, and that is holding a photograph in my hands.

refocusing

My love for capturing images has to be in collaboration with the people on the other side of the camera. I refocused my photography and mindfully chose not to photograph every genre because I will never do anything just for the money. If I don’t absolutely love it and it doesn’t inspire me, then I can’t pick up my camera and photograph it. That is the best decision I have ever made because there is not a single image I have taken that I don’t cherish as if it was my own family.

simplifying

My focus will never be handing my clients 30 or 50 images. Instead, my priority is making sure that you end up with images you actually see and display. It’s rare to display every image from a session on your wall, especially when there are dozens. Most likely, they end up in a folder and that’s where they stay. What if you focus on fewer images but you get to see them everywhere and enjoy them daily? Not only is that a worthwhile investment, but we can focus on what matters most.

value

I promise to value you and your images like I would my own family. When I work on your images, I don’t batch edit, use presets, or implement shortcuts. Every image you receive is finely tuned with hours of love and attention that go into your gallery after your session. I am dedicated to providing you with the highest-quality fine art images to pass down to your children and grandchildren. Your investment in me and my investment in you go hand in hand.

inclusivity

At Alicia Marie Photography, everyone is welcome. No matter your ethnicity, who you love, how you see the world or your personal beliefs, you have a place here. Everybody has a story whether it’s the bonds between you and your pets, with your partners, between you and your children, or with yourself. It is an honor for me to be able to tell your story and give you something in return that you will hold close to your heart forever. Remember, you are enough just as you are. If your children are in a season of life where they are trying to discover who they are, I will support and make them as comfortable as possible. I am your ally and my goal is to create a safe space for you. Whether it’s before, during, or after your session, I am here for you.

Alicia photographs children, pets, and luxury couture children sessions. I also have a love for photographing mothers with their babies, fathers with their babies, or mother and fathers with their babies. Those intimate but beautiful bonds inspire me and you can book those with a children’s session.

Oftentimes, families, situations, and stories land in front of me that speak to my heart, and I will photograph them. Sometimes these are not sessions I offer to the public, but I do them for my heart.

Alicia does not photograph weddings, newborns, high school seniors, large families, headshots or commercial, or large events.

Alicia is all about photographing what is inspiring to her and not feeling the desire to book sessions simply to make money. My passion is truly in every image I create so everything I photograph is something I feel in my heart.

Photography, for me, is perceived as the most personalized kind of art created because it showcases human interaction. When I take photos, I have a vision, I have love, and I have a passion for every photo I take. My images are not batch-edited in any form and each photo acts as a painting for me. For all of these reasons, they are meant to be printed a certain way, with the correct color collaborations, specifications, and means so that the images you receive are what I intended them to look like. I want you to receive an art piece that I have touched, inspected, and given my seal of approval on.

Just as you would buy a piece of decor for your home, a painting from an artist, or anything else you want to call your own. I came into photography knowing that I was going to do things differently, but as an artist, I feel passionately about it. My heart is truly invested in my work from start to finish. I hope you feel that love and dedication when you work with me.

I start photographing children from the time they can sit up by themselves. This is generally around the 6-month mark, but EVERY child is different. If you are inquiring about a parent/child or parent/grandchild session with a baby, simply message me and we will decide what would be best for you.

Ideally, for children’s photography, I like to keep sessions under 30 minutes. Truth be told, children do not want to be photographed for a long time. I think people assume that a longer session means they are getting their money’s worth, but in reality, it’s not the case. Children, especially young kids and babies, do not want a camera in their faces for a drawn-out period. I am very quick and meaningful with my images so they don’t have to feel like they are performing simply to take repetitive images.

Unfortunately, the weather cannot be controlled by myself or you! I will never hold the weather against my clients. We will hold off on rescheduling as long as possible, but if we decide to do so, we will figure out the soonest date that works for both of us. No new retainers will be required, so rest assured, we will figure it out for you!
